Berk is a lifelong resident of Lee County, Florida. A graduate of Fort Myers High School, Berk later attended the University of Florida where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Political Science. After graduating from UF, he attended Nova Southeastern University Shepard Broad Law School. He graduated Magna Cum Laude in the top 15 of his class in 1994.
Upon graduation from law school, he returned to Lee County to work as an associate attorney in the commercial litigation department of the prestigious Fort Myers law firm of Smoot, Adams, Edwards & Green, P.A. In 1999, Berk left the Smoot firm to become a partner at Patrick E. Geraghty, P.A. and the firm became known as Geraghty, Dougherty & Edwards, P.A.
Berk continues to focus his practice in the area of commercial and business litigation, with an emphasis in construction, contract, real property, landlord-tenant and business partnership/shareholder disputes. He represents a wide range of clientele from large corporations to small businesses and individuals. He prides himself in being hands on in every case he handles and pledges to give each and every client the personal attention and devotion they deserve to maximize the best possible result.
Berk is a former President of the Southwest Chapter of the Federal Bar Association, a current member of The Florida Bar and Lee County Bar Associations, and is licensed to practice in all state courts in Florida, as well as the United States Supreme Court, the United States Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, and the United States District Court, Middle District of Florida.
Berk has been married to his wife, Charlotte, for 20 years and they have 3 beautiful girls, Alex, Emily and Jessica. When not spending time with his family, Berk devotes time to the Lee County Strikers youth soccer organization and various other volunteer efforts. He enjoys hunting, fishing and golfing in his spare time.
